From Grandma’s Kitchen: Dry Tisreo (Clams)

Goan-style dry clam dish with coconut



50 clams

½ cup water

½ tsp turmeric powder

1 onion (chopped)

2 green chillies (slit)

1 tsp jaggery

1 tsp chilli powder

¼ tsp garam masala

½ cup coconut

2 tsp Goan sambhar powder

A bit of tamarind pulp

Salt to taste



Put clams, water, and turmeric in a pan.  Then add the onions and chillies.

Leave it on a low flame until the meat starts coming out of the shell.

Then put in the chilly powder, jaggery, coconut, sambhar powder, and garam masala.

Add salt and tamarind pulp. Cook it till most of the water evaporates.
