Registrations for 49th edition of IFFI gets underway

The delegate registrations for the 49th edition of IFFI will commence on October 8 from 7.00 p.m. onwards for all cine enthusiasts and professionals on payment of Rs. 1000, whereas the students will be registered free. The applications of the delegates who are registered with IFFI for the last 2 years will be approved within 24 hours and new applications will be approved within 48hours.

While briefing the media about the preparations of the festival, vice–chairman of ESG, Rajendra Talak said that: “all our activities are going as per the schedule and this being my second term as the vice–chairman of ESG; I can say that we are much ahead of the schedule. The entire programme will be finalised by October 30.” There will also be a Goan section for the unreleased Goan films in this edition of IFFI, added Talak.

The opening and closing ceremony of the festival will be held on November 20 and 28 respectively at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium, with the opening film being screened at Kala Academy, Panaji. While Bhupal Ramnathkar who has offered his service to assist Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) for décor finalisation of the festival is appointed as a design consultant.

At the 49th edition of IFFI, Israel has been finalised as the country of focus and in ‘Cinema of the World’ films from 64 countries have confirmed their participation.

In the homage section, IFFI will pay a tribute to Sashi Kapoor and Sridevi and also a tribute to Vinod Khanna in a special Retro section.

This year a special sports section will be introduced where 6-7 films on sports will be screened.

Besides these, there will be a ‘Bioscope’ section which will be held at SAG grounds and will be open for delegates, non-delegates, and children.

Activities at Bioscope include: Film screenings, Skill studio– a platform for the film enthusiasts and aspiring film makers to understand the different career opportunities within the film industry. Katta– an interview session from 7.30 to 8.30 p.m. with a film celebrity by a film journalist followed by public interaction. Special film section– will be dedicated to the Kapoors from Pritviraj Kapoor to Ranbir Kapoor and one of the Kapoors will be invited to inaugurate this session.

Other programs at Bioscope village include live music and international DJ playing after 9.00 pm and an exclusive zone in the village for F and B, and handicraft stalls, AR/VR games for people of all ages.
