Musical tribute to Pt Jitendra Abhisheki

The 14th edition of Pt Jitendra Abhisheki Music Festival which is organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Pt Jitendra Abhisheki will be held on September 29 and September 30 at Kala Academy, Panaji. The music festival will feature sixteen artistes who will be performing for the 2- day event.

While briefing the media, programme officer of Kala Academy, Dattaguru Amonkar said that two Goan artistes will be performing at the event: Subhash Parwar will present a performance in vocal classical music and Naresh Madgaonkar will present a santoor recital.

Senior disciples of Pt Jitendra Abhisheki namely Shubha Mudgal, Devaki Pandit and Hemant Pendse will offer their musical homage to the musician. Among them, the other vocal artistes are Gayatree Joshi, Manu Shrivastav, Meeta Pandit, Ravindra Parchure, Shakir Khan (sitar) Asawari Patankar (Kathak Dance ), Amarendra Dhaneshwar, Damodar Roa, Milind Raikar and Yadnesh Raikar (Father Son Violin Duo), Ragunandan Panshikar, Vishwanath Kanhere (Harmonium solo).

Among the female classical performers, vocal performance will be by Gayatree Joshi, Meeta Pandit. The Kathak dance performance will be by Asawari Patankar,”Well-known accompanying artists from Goa, Mayank Bedekar, Raya Korgaonkar, Dayesh Kosambe, Tulshidas Navelkar, Chinamay Kolhatkar Vithhal Khandolkar, Dattaraj Surlakar, Dattaraj Mhashi, Amar Mopkar, Subhash Kamat, Subhash Phatarfekar, Rohidas Parab as well as leading accompanist like Aneesh Pradhan, Subhash Kamat Sudhir Nayak, Ajinky Joshi will add to the melody of the festival.

The event is organised by Kala Academy, Directorate of Art and Cultural, Department of Tourism Goa, Government of Goa and Tarangini Sanskrutik Pratishthan.
