Saurak is a simple yet tasty vegetarian Goan dish. It is usually eaten with rice.
Ingredients:
1 coconut
5-6 garlic flakes
¾ inch ginger piece
Turmeric powder
½ tsp whole pepper
4 Kashmiri chillies
½ tsp jeera
1 marble-sized ball of tamarind
1-2 green chillies (slit)
1 small onion
1 chicken cube
½ tsp sugar
½ tsp salt
Method:
Coarsely grind the coconut with the garlic, ginger, turmeric powder, pepper, chillies, jeera, tamarind, and extract the thick milk.
Cut the onion, add the sugar and salt, and smash together.
Boil everything with the green chillies and chicken cube.
