Minister for Art and Culture, Govind Gaude on Wednesday inaugurated the Kala Academy Goa’s College of Theatre Arts –A 4 year Bachelor of Performing Art in theatre professional course from the academic year 2018-19 which is affiliated to Goa University.

Speaking on the occasion Gaude said that, the main motive of starting the Bachelor of Performing arts course at Kala Academy is to strive ahead to produce new gems of theatre artists amongst this generation by exploring their talents to the fullest and not just restricting the purpose of Kala Academy towards organizing other programmes. Further Gaude added that students that have enrolled in this course should not study this course for the sake of getting a bachelors degree but in turn, create a mass awareness about the course to others. “Learning the art of acting is more sort of a practical work than theoretical and each artist should understand their respective roles not only as a stage artist but also as a humble civilian” added Gaude.

Also addressing the gathering Member Secretary, Gurudas Pilarnekar said that “A lot of effort has been put up in the buildup of this course and getting affiliation from Goa University, and the students who have enrolled for this course should work tirelessly so that they can spark a new revolution in the theatre industry of Goa and also set an example for the next generations to follow.” Also present for the occasion were Director of School of Drama– Padmashree Josalkar and faculty member of the school of drama– Venkatesh Naik.
