Commemorative Postage Stamp to be released on Goan Tiatr

To celebrate 125 years of tiatr, the government of Goa formed the ‘125th Anniversary of Tiatr Celebration Committee’ with Tomazinho Cardozo as its chairman. They have been behind many tiatr activities along with the felicitations of more than 600 tiatr artists.

To commemorate 125 years of tiatr, this committee has decided to release a Postage Stamp on Tiatr Day celebrations which is to be held on 17th April 2018 at Kala  Academy’s DMK Hall. The celebration will begin at 4 pm in the gardens of Kala Academy where both Tiatr artistes and tiatr fans can mingle together.  At 5 pm, in the DMK Hall, the Postage Stamp will be released by Mr. H. C. Agrawal, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Region. Mr Govind Gaude will be the chief guest and Mr. John Claro Fernandes will be the guest of honour. Dr Vinodkumar, Postmaster General Goa Region, will also be present for the occasion.

After the stamp’s release,  12 tiatr artistes who have helped in the development of tiatr will be felicitated.  Following this, there will be a cultural programme which will include presentations from classic Tiatrs like ‘Ekuch Rosto’ and ‘Ghorachem Sukh’ along with renditions of memorable songs which were performed by tiatrists over the years.

The 125th Anniversary of Tiatr Celebration Committee is also going to release a book titled ‘Caricatures of 100 Great Tiatrists’ on 16th April 2018 in the Black Box of Kala Academy at 4:30 pm.  Alexysz, the famous Goan cartoonist, has drawn more than a 100 caricatures of esteemed tiatrists. The book will be released by Mr Titta Preto, an important tiatr personality. After the release, the book will be inaugurated at Kala Academy’s Art Gallery and the exhibition will be open for public viewing till 17th April 2018.
