Promoting the Medium of Watercolour

The Watercolour Society of Goa (WSG) was formally inaugurated by renowned artists, Milind Mulick in the presence of principal of Goa College of Art, Mahesh Vengurlekar and director of Art & Culture, Gurudas Pilarnkar. The Society’s logo was also unveiled during the inaugural function.

Speaking at the function, Mulick lauded the efforts of the artists in Goa to get together and work in the interest of promoting love towards watercolour as a medium of creative expression. Vengurlekar went ahead and urged the artists gathered to create more groups of various genres of art such as portraits, sculptures and others with an aim to activate the dormant talent in the society.

Pilarnkar praised the Water Society of Goa and assured the artist community of wholehearted support of the department in activities promoting art and artists from the state.

At its inaugural event, WSG organised a two-day watercolour workshop with Milind Mulick. The workshop had an overwhelming response with over fifty participants registered. The workshop saw Mulick demonstrating watercolour techniques and explaining finer nuances of the medium. The participants were also given the opportunity to witness and practice outdoor painting with Mulick.

The society led by its president Govind Silimkhan has several plans to spread the love for art and promote artists from Goa. Kalidas Satardekar, Girish Gujjar, Anuj Shet Narvekar, Omkar Surendra Sirsat, Bazil Mota, Darshan Shetye, Uzma Khan and Anant Kamat Bambolkar are the other office bearers of the society.

All the participants were awarded participation certificates and an informal exhibition of their artwork was organised on the concluding day.
