Rotary EduExpo ‘23 is a curated exhibition that endeavours to showcase institutions of higher learning, both nationally and internationally, to students in Goa and nearby areas. It is for those desirous of pursuing higher education in sciences, humanities, computer applications, law, visual arts, finance, aviation, sports and sports management, architecture, health care management, hotel management and other verticals in the ever-evolving sphere of education. Leading universities, consultancy firms, hospitality institutes and aviation institutes have confirmed their participation.

The Expo is being held on May 20 and 21 at the Don Bosco Oratory in Panaji. It will be inaugurated on May 20 by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in the presence of Panaji Mayor, Rohit Monserrate, deputy mayor Sanjeev S. Naik, district governor of Rotary Club of Panaji Venkatesh Deshpande and IPDG Rotary Club of Panaji, Gaurish Dhond.

Followed by a panel discussion on ‘Education & Career Enrichment Opportunities’, featuring founder and managing director of Kineco Limited Shekhar Sardesai, director of Mines & Geology Suresh Shanbhogue, director of Goa Institute of Management Ajit Parulekar, senior vice president of Indian Hotels Company Limited Vincent Ramos and vice-chairman of the Career Counselling Committee, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India Rajkumar Adhukia. The discussion will be moderated by life coach and writer Pravin Sabnis.

The idea of organising an education fair came to president, Rotary Club of Panaji, Nester Sequeira from his personal experience, when he travelled to various institutions in neighbouring states as his daughter wanted to pursue B.Tech in Biotechnology.  He says, “It was quite a task. That’s when I thought of having an event where some of the best universities/institutes come to Goa, and students and their parents could meet and discuss various options under one roof. I discussed this with my fellow Rotarians and here we are.”

The Rotary EduExpo is about exposing students and their parents to the various options for higher studies.  “We analyse the needs in the community we live in and try to make a difference. Through this EduExpo, we touch two of our core pillars of service, namely community service and vocational service.”

The ICAI Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is the knowledge partner for the event and will be counselling students wanting to pursue chartered accountancy. There will also be seminars and aptitude tests for students.

Bengaluru-based Disha AI will be conducting an AI-based aptitude test for students. “Given the fact that Goa has a new airport and has the potential for jobs in the aviation sector, we have two institutes offering pilot training, cabin crew and ground handling courses.  We have State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, Saraswat Bank and Union Bank participating and students can discuss student loan options,” says Sequeira, adding that undergraduate and post-graduate students will reap benefits from the event.

Counsellors from various participating institutions will provide information on the courses on offer and guide students.

The expo will have 30 plus leading universities and institutes from around the country along with study abroad consultants catering to the U.K., the U.S., Ireland, Europe, Russia, Australia and Canada.
