Creating awareness on menstrual hygiene

Panaji-based voluntary youth organisation, YUVA donated an automatic sanitary napkin vending machine to Purushottam Walawalkar Higher Secondary School, Mapusa under its menstrual hygiene awareness initiative.

Yogish and Bindiya Dempo along with YUVA president, Aakash Khaunte handed over the sanitary napkin vending machine to the principal of Purushottam Walawalkar Higher Secondary School, Supriya Netravalkar; chairman and treasurer of Saraswat Vidhyalaya Society, Ramnath Benye and Ashwinkumar Prabhu. Other dignitaries present included YUVA advisor, Amey Panvelkar; YUVA founder, Raghuvir Mahale; YUVA secretary, Akhil Prabhu Verlekar; joint secretary, Pranav Prabhu Parrikar, Preetesh Kerkar, Shawn Mendes along with senior teacher Pooja Churi.

Prior to this, YUVA had organised a menstrual hygiene awareness programme in slum areas near Panaji and distributed sanitary napkins. YUVA president Aakash Khaunte expressed his happiness over the noble work taken up by the team in reaching out to people and educating them on such a sensitive subject. The vending machine was sponsored by YUVA advisor Yogish Dempo and he extended his wholehearted support to YUVA for its campaigns towards the betterment of society. YUVA founder Raghuvir Mahale and secretary Akhil Prabhu Verlekar informed that the group has plans to install such machines in other schools and colleges as well as create awareness in the upcoming academic year.
