8th National Voters Day

The Governor of Goa Mridula Sinha has called upon voters in the state to freely cast their votes to elect the best candidate in the electoral battle and not be influenced by religion, race, caste, community, and language. She said that people should cast their votes as the people of the country used to do in late 1950’s and 60’s.

The Governor was addressing a gathering on the 8th National Voters Day celebrations held on Thursday at Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji. The programme was organized by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Goa.

The acting Chief Electoral Officer, Narayan Navti, expressed his happiness that Goa bagged 4 national awards, for innovations in elections, for conducting best elections – Collectorate North Goa – Nila Mohanan, best security arrangements – Vivek Gogila and Paresh Phaldessai for the management of the electoral roll and inducting the Wanarmare tribe in to the electoral roles. These awards will be presented by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind at New Delhi, he added.

Meritorious students who excelled in the quiz competitions conducted by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Goa were felicitated at the hands of the Governor.
