Unique Creations is bringing in an exhibition titled, ‘Diwali Bonanza’. The exhibition will be held on the 12th and 13th of October at Caculo Mall, St Inez, Panjim. The exhibition will be selling various products suited for the festival of lights. Items like diyas, ethnic clothing, jewelry and much more will be put up for sale at very reasonable prices. The prices of products range from Rs. 100 to 500 for the jewelry, clothing ranges from 800 and above. There will be competitions held for women and children as well. A karaoke and lantern-making competition will be held for the children on the 12th of October. A mehendi competition will be held for the women on the 13th of October.

A mega event was held at Park Regis hotel by Kewal Kiran Clothing. They launched the booking for AW’19 (Autumn Winter) collection. A large display of fashion items was put up. Museum of Goa in collaboration with CraftStories organised a Natal bazaar during the Christmas season. They sold a variety of items which well-suited the festive season.  Some of these items included cakes, handmade flowers, artificial jewellery, lamps, bags, food items, candles, and more. People got to put their creativity on display through various handcrafted products. Along with the bazaar, there were other fun-filled activities such as a carol singing competition, face-painting, drawing competition, etc. Christmas themed workshops were held as well where people of all ages learnt and enjoyed. Some of the stalls belonged to Monica’s gift shop, Kitsch bits, Craftstories, Raika, Nazaaqaut, Soul potion, Feelings and others.

The ‘National Silk Expo’ which was inaugurated on March 21 at Community Centre, Taleigao features the works of artisans from all over India of the Gramin Hastkala Vikas Samiti, who have come to Goa to exhibit their ethnic weaves and traditional pure silk and cotton products. The exhibition was inaugurated at the hands of renowned celebrity from Goa, Samiksha Dessai. The Organizer of National Silk Expo, Jayesh Kumar Gupta said that the main social objective of the handloom exhibition is to promote weavers and encourage them and provide a market to the handloom industry. More than 100 designers and weavers are part of this year’s exhibition which includes designer clothes from each region of the country; the exhibition treats the consumers with a kaleidoscope of India’s colorful diversity and talent. Artisans from 14 handloom weaving States including Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat , Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal and many other designers from metros working in collaboration with the weavers are displaying more than 1,50,000 variety of their work here. The Museum of Goa (MOG) is currently holding an exhibition called ‘A Mirror of Everyday Life’ which showcases Saleh Kazemi’s drawings. He is an Iranian artist settled in Rome and has lately been travelling around Goa, artistically recording what he has seen. The display also includes other works by Saleh, such as self-portraits and a series called Moments in Waiting. Saleh Kazemi had first taken up documentary photography but later on distanced himself from technology which led him to the drawing board. He loves to travel and capture what he sees every day. The drawings at the exhibition show everyday scenes from different places. Various scenes from Goa were depicted like women sellers in local markets, barbershops, cows, banyan trees, etc. He also drew the local life of Rome which portrayed bus journeys, shops, café life, kitchens, and so on. The ‘Pretty Home’ exhibition- one of Goa’s popular exhibition brands- is going on at Don Bosco high school, Panjim. It started on February 15th and will end on February 19th. They had a wide variety of products under different categories. There are many electronic items like ovens, hair dryers, vacuum cleaners, lighting equipment, and washing machines. Fashion products were everywhere like makeup, necklaces, bracelets, anklets, shoes, rings, bags, dresses, sarees, pants, and much more. Useful home items like carpets, wallpaper, furniture, water coolers, decorative pieces, and so on were available. The exhibition also had cameras, gym equipment, books, healthcare products, and other items.

It is said that Valentine’s Day got its name from Saint Valentine. The story about him is that he was a priest in Rome who was martyred because he was caught secretly arranging marriages even though the Emperor didn’t want male youth to get married as he felt that unmarried men were better soldiers. Valentine’s Day gradually became famous all around the world, including Goa, many years ago. This occasion is loved here which can be seen by the various events that pop up all over Goa.
