Bookworm Trust, a warm cosy place in Panjim, was founded to inculcate the love of reading in people. Their primary focus is to foster a relationship between children and books. They conduct many fun outdoor activities like ‘Summer blast in the park’ which involves a pop-up library and games for people of all ages. Within the library, they conduct activities on a monthly basis like stitching, theatre, and poetry.

The staff there usually read to kids who are up to 6-7 years old. The others can read by themselves. Reading sessions are very interactive. They ask the children reflective questions like ‘Why do you think the character is doing that?’ so they are personally involved with the story. All kinds of books are available for the kids like storybooks, chapter books, picture books, and graphic novels.

Additionally, they have other programmes like the ‘Mobile outreach programme’ in which they take the library experience to underprivileged communities where they can freely access books. Activities are also conducted there like story reading and art sessions. Bookworm Trust’s founder says, “We believe in the power of reading and pursue that belief with full commitment.”
