Our Lady of Succour Church, Carmona, Goa is also called as ‘Nossa Senhora do Socorro Igreja em Carmona. Our Lady of Succour Church, Carmona, Goa is popularly called ‘The Carmona Church’ locally in Goa. Built in 1607, the Carmona church was originally part of the Jesuit Novitiate House which existed there at that time. The Novitiate House is now the parochial residence. The feast of Our Lady of Succour is celebrated on 8th December every year. Apart from the feast of their patron, the villagers of Carmona celebrate ‘Evottacho Dis’ (Day of Togetherness) on 15th August every year. This event is marked by performing various traditional Goan dances and by indulging into Goan traditional sweets such as patoleo, fole, godshee and others.
