Book lovers there is good news for you! Literati, located in Calangute, was founded by Divya Kapur in November 2005.  She enthusiastically says: “It’s a cultural and creative space.”

The bookshop cum café is a cosy place which sells new books, second-hand books, and antiquarian books. There are a variety of books available such as literature, biographies, history, economics, kids’ books, health, food, environment and Goa-related books. Their antiquarian books are more than 60-100 years old. The books are only sold, not borrowed.

They also hold many activities and events like film screening and book releases where the authors themselves come, read the book and interact with the audience. They also have a book club which has no members but the general public can come and discuss a book. The Italian café serves a variety of scrumptious dishes and drinks.

Divya Kapur says, “It is a unique setting. You feel like you are sitting in someone’s room. You can spend a day reading, having snacks and interacting with like-minded people.”
