‘Wrong Number’ to be staged at Kala Academy

A comedy play ‘Wrong Number’ directed by the film, theatre, and television director Raman Kumar will be staged today at Kala Academy at 6 p.m. The play features Bollywood and Television actors, Rakesh Bedi, Tanaaz Irani, Delnaaz Irani, Avtar Gill, Kishwar Merchant, Rajesh Puri, and Rahul Bhuchar.

Speaking during a press conference on Thursday at Panaji, director, Raman Kumar said: “It is a Marathi comedy of errors, where people end up misunderstanding each other. There is a lot of humor and comedy and will surely make people laugh. It is all about how three couples end up confused due to the series of misunderstanding that takes place in their lives.”

The play depicts the story of three married couples whose lives are tangled with confusions and suspicions. ‘Wrong Number’ juggles time and space to present the lives and loves, passion and panic of three married couples in a play of love, laughter, and mayhem.

Tanaaz Irani who plays the role of a social worker in the play spoke about her role and said that she is a social worker who tries to be extra good towards her work and tries to add a bit of fun and confusion to the story. “I liked one thing is though there are prominent actors of comedy in this play no one has tried to compete with each other rather helped raise each other. It was wonderful working with them for the play. It is a total comedy as we have worked as one rather than individually,” said Tanaaz.

Actor, Avtar Gill mentioned the reason why a comedy is chosen as the genre. He said: “It is easy to make people cry, dance and sing but it is not easy to make them laugh and therefore, we intended to make people laugh as much as we can. I am sure people will be entertained throughout the play.”

Producer and MD, Felicity Theatre, Rahul Bhuchar also added that it gives him immense pleasure to present an ensemble cast of veterans from Bollywood and theatre on one stage and he said that producing ‘Wrong Number’ was truly an experience for him. He hopes the Goan audience appreciates this play.
