Sai Paranjpye film festival at ESG

Entertainment Society of Goa Cinephile Film Club in association with 1930 K Sera Sera, Vasco will be organising its second edition of Women film festival to commemorate the International Women’s Day.

The film festival is titled as– Sai Paranjpye’s film festival, where the movies directed by Sai Paranjpye will be in focus. Sai Paranjpye is the director of National award winning movies Sparsh, Katha, Chasme Buddoor and Disha. The Government of India awarded her the Padma Bhushan title in 2006 in recognition for her artistic talent.

The festival will be inaugurated at Maquinez palace on March 8 on the occasion of the International Women’s Day at 6 pm, which will be followed by the screening of ‘Sparsh’. On March 9, film ‘Katha’ will be screened at 6:30 pm, while on March 10 films ‘Saaz’ and ‘Disha’ will be screened at 4 pm and 6:30 pm respectively.

Speaking at the press conference, vice chairman of ESG, Rajendra Talak also announced the extension for the registration of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) courses till March 15. The full-day courses will be held from April 13 to May 2. The application forms will be available from February 15 on The fee for the acting course is `20,000, the screenplay writing course is `19,000 for which there are only 25 seats on first come first serve basis available.

This festival is open to all. At the end of the screening, there will be a question and answer session with the director on March 8 and 9. The movies will also be screened at 1930 K Sera Sera Vasco on March 9 and 10.
