Museum of Goa founder will talk about art

Subodh Kerkar will be giving two public lectures at Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji. The first lecture will be on the topic ‘Gandhi through Art’ (23rd January 2020 at 4:30 pm). Kerkar grew up in the company of Gandhians including Jnanpith Awardee and Padma Bhushan Ravindra Kelekar, Dada Dharmadhikari and Justice Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikari. So, he had a connection with Gandhi from his childhood days. He has passionately learnt about Mahatma Gandhi’s life and teachings. Kerkar used his artistic side and created works inspired by Mahatma Gandhi.  He has documented 70 sculptures of Gandhi across India and converted them into Augmented Reality images.  These images can be viewed using the Gandhi AR App, which he developed. Kerkar believes that Gandhi is as important today as he was during India’s freedom struggle.

His second lecture on Contemporary Art will be on 24th January 2020 at 4:30 pm.  He gave up his medical career to pursue his dream of being an artist and founded the Museum of Goa. He has created conceptual art and land art. Many of Kerkar’s works are also connected to the ocean.
