The Shree Damodar temple at Zambaulim is widely associated with the festival of ‘gulal’ which is celebrated in the Phalgun (February-March) month of Hindu calendar. The festivity for this festival starts in Margao at Shree Damodar hall which belongs to Mutt gram Sansthan Hindu Sabha.

The festivities last for over seven days. On the final day a procession is taken out, with the idol of lord Damodar in the palki, during this procession the people throw gulal on the idol of lord Damodar. Those carrying the idol are smeared with the gulal, thrown by the people.
