Feel the ‘Muzik’

As part of the ongoing Sur Jahan– World Peace Music festival, the Muzcikas band from Hungary conducted a workshop at Kala Academy, Panaji.

The Muzsickas is a Hungarian folk music ensemble and their main motive is to bring the Hungary’s folk music to global limelight. The troupe members explained various instruments played in the Hungarian folk music such as, violin, citera, koboz, viola, mandolin, flute, gardon and drums.

Istvan Berecz explained various folk dance forms and also taught audience a few steps of the ‘Csardas’ dance form. The ‘Csardas’ is characterized by a variation in tempo: it starts out slowly and ends on a very fast tempo.
