Fabric Collection by Manju Jalota

‘Fabric Collection’ by Manju Jalota, a clothing exhibition-cum-sale was recently held at Goa on the 10th and 11th of October 2019. The sale was held for two days at Margao and Panjim respectively. The sale exhibited different varieties of chikankari fabrics and clothing. The pricing of these fabrics is Rs. 2000 and higher. This brand hails from Lucknow and has been conducting these sales in Goa for the past 5 years.

The exhibition is conducted all over India for years and has been seeing a good response. The sale is done directly through these exhibitions which cut out middle-men, part of the proceeds then go to the NGO.

Speaking to Ritika, the owner of this brand, she commented saying, “The initiative was started by my mother, Manju Jalota about 25 years ago when she realized chikankari is a dying occupation in India. We’re here to try and keep the occupation alive. We are also part of an NGO which helps in empowering women across Lucknow. The NGO has about 5000 women under its wing, the revenue generated from these fabrics are distributed among these women. These women live about 50 km away from Lucknow.”
