Celebrating Christmas with Child’s Play India Foundation

Child’s Play India Foundation continues its 10th-anniversary celebrations with a special Christmas concert on the 7th of December 2019 at Menezes Braganza Hall, Panjim. The evening will feature the Child’s Play Chorus, the Camerata Child’s Play India and performances by Aradhon, Goa’s leading sacred music choir.  This concert will showcase a variety of pieces including traditional carols in English, Konkani and Portuguese. The orchestra will play carols and other works such as Handel’s Sarabande in D minor HWV 437 and the fun-filled Toy Symphony.

“Our concerts are a showcase of the continued progress our students make. It is important for students and our audience to see that children and young people can play classical music to a high level. The ensemble is garnering huge interest in the wider community as well. Almost on a daily basis, I get requests from parents from all walks of life wanting to have their children join the Camerata. Our concerts are fun but we always aim for a high musical standard, even in a children’s orchestra. The pursuit of excellence can never begin too early” says founder Dr. Luis Dias.

“With Omar de Loiola Pereira coming on board to lead our children’s choir, it was a logical step from there to invite his much-acclaimed sacred music choir Aradhon to perform at this concert. This is a rare North Goa public performance by them, and I am excited at the prospect of having them share our stage, and sing alongside our children, in addition to their own performance.”

Child’s Play India’s mission is to instill positive values and provide social empowerment to India’s disadvantaged children through the teaching of classical music to the highest possible standard. Established in 2009 by physician-musician Dr. Luis Dias, the NGO has worked with hundreds of children in the past decade.
