Ravindra Bhavan is organising a Ghumat Vadan workshop from August 16 to August 26, 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The workshop will be conducted by experts in the field. Participants will learn the tradition of Ghumat Aarti singing along with other accompanying traditional instruments like Xamell, Kansal etc. The age group is ten years and above. A creative collage of 3681 left-handers handprints from the world over will be displayed at the Big Foot Tiatra Hall of Fame, Loutolim by Maendra Alvares. The collage is open for public viewing till August 25, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Sunaparanta – Goa Centre for the Arts is delighted to present ‘Ordinary Superheroes: Tales from the Animan Kingdom’, a solo show by Goa-based artist Viraj Naik opening on Friday, 23rd August 2019, 7 pm. With curatorial direction by Leandre D’Souza, the show is produced by patrons Dipti and Dattaraj Salgaocar. Ordinary Superheroes is a collection of over 95 ink drawings, etchings and sculptures of hybridized subjects, part of Naik’s long-term study of the physiognomy and behaviour of human beings. The exhibition features an evolutionary archive of the human portrait, illustrated as mutilations – where men are disfigured into beasts, monsters and grotesque creatures. Naik’s human-arium is presented as a suspended place, where man metamorphizes into anthropomorphic state/s.
